Knowlwdge is not power, but having knowledgeable people you can rely on is powerful.

We are told that knowledge is power.
But is knowledge power, or is it the effective organization and application of knowledge toward attaining a goal that is powerful?

Real Estate information on the Internet has become like a math class with no teacher.
Did you learn math by just reading a book and teaching yourself?
How much longer would it have taken you to learn without a teacher?

The richest and most powerful men in the world don't know everything, and don't do everything themselves.
They gather people around them; those who know the specifics.
Their key to success is finding those who know the specifics and are trustworthy.
Power comes from knowing who to rely on, when you want to get something done.

People are understanding this about real estate, as the Internet becomes more cluttered.
The plethora of real estate sites on the Internet is actually helping the real estate profession, because people are becoming more and more confused by conflicting sites and poorly maintained information.

Buyers don't have time to sift and validate all the information.
Sellers don't have time to stay current with changing laws, lending problems, and market changes.
The experienced real estate professional is once again becoming the trustworthy source for real estate.

Yes, pictures are still looked at.  Addresses are still requested for a drive-by.
But true consumers know that they are most likely to have a successful real estate transaction when they rely on someone who does it every day.
The experienced real estate professional organizes and applies real estate knowledge for their market every day.
Therein lies the real power for the smart consumer.

The internet is great for disseminating information.  But, information isn't knowledge.  Knowledge is the assimilation and understanding drawn from the information provided.  The public will always need "boots on the ground" to guide them through the conflicting information.  Great post.

You post makes sense to me Heath - but sometimes common sense is not common- we went on 2 separate listings appointments last month with similar stories - one seller paid seven thousand dollars to a FSBO website for one internet listing and a sign/brochure box that he had to fill with no showings for 6 months. The other guy who did not list with us because of his investment of thirteen thousand dollars to the same company is still hoping to sell it himself as he has paid upfront for ??).

Heath: Great post on interdependence. So many people are afraid to ask for help because they view it as a sign of weakness when in fact it is the opposite.

Your title is so true, and hit the nail on the head.  In order to be successful you need to know you can't do it all.  You should turn to people to work with who are experts in their own fields.
