Falmouth High School Powder Puff Preparations

The traditional Powder Puff Football Game between the Junior and Senior girls will be held on Tuesday, November 24th.  It will begin at 6:30 PM at the FHS soccer field. There will also be a rally for the Clipper football team at half time of the traditional Senior Junior girls flag football game.

Some students are planning a Tailgate Party to begin at 5PM in the faculty parking lot.  In order to hold this event, parent assistance will be needed. Parent volunteers are needed to cook and to oversee student set up and clean up.

Donations of hamburgers, hot dogs, rolls, chips, soda, water, condiments and paper goods are being sought from parents of the kids involved. Gas grills will be needed as well. There will be a sign up in the field house lobby in the main entrance during the FHS Open House on Thursday, October 22 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.

You may also volunteer by calling Deb Werner in the Student Activities Office at 508-540-2200 x3037.

MA Court Rules That A Foreclosure May NOT Be A Foreclosure!

Massachusetts has joined the list of states with "foreclosure confusion". A judge ruled yesterday that because a bank did not prove it owned a couple of loans before it foreclosed on them, the foreclosures are not valid! Oops - to say the least.

In one of my blogs last year: http://activerain.com/blogsview/525644/More-Foreclosure-stuff-MERS-Mystery I tried to summarize what my research on MERS had shown me. It seems that these two loans were both examples of that kind of "lost paperwork".

This judge's decision raises some questions. 1) If banks now have to prove ownership before they foreclose, will that delay the foreclosure process?  2) If a loan has "disappeared" into a MERS like filing system, what checks are available to validate the current owner at the "reappearance" of the chain of ownership?  3) If a file cannot be found in MERS or a like system of non-public recordings, what happens to the property?  4) If the chain of ownership was passed around inside a MERS like system, who is going to check to make sure it was done properly and according to law?  Will they give access to outsiders or will that have to be legislated?  Will legislators make it happen or let it slide?

Whether foreclosures continue is now a matter of how well the bank can document its ownership. Some will proceed whether they can prove ownership or not. The uninformed public often isn't aware of the proper procedures in a foreclosure. Make sure those you know at least ask questions and get some local advice.

It seems that the foreclosure mess has hit another bump in the road. This bump has the capability to turn the truck over though.

What If You Were Smarter Than Einstein - At Age Two!

I just read an article about a two year old that has an IQ that is off the charts. This "kid" has more intelligence than the people who make up the intelligence test. That is a mind bender!

If you were this smart what would you do? How would you keep from becoming frustrated with "the unintelligent" or even more so with the "wannabe intelligentsia"?

What would you devote you talent to? Maybe you would create new, beautiful music, or work to improve batteries so storage of energy could be furthered. Would you study the oceans - the last great earthly frontier? Or would you create a formula so you could win all the lotteries and give money to poor countries and people?

Here is the link to the article:  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/6286512/Two-year-old-with-same-IQ-as-Einstein.html

(  http://bit.ly/167hEM   this is the shortened version so you can copy and paste it easier.)

What an amazing future for all of us if this 2 years old doesn't short circuit! It makes trying to SEO web pages, or twittering, or selling real estate, seem so basic.

Wow!

Does Your Mortgage Originator Have A "Unique Identifier"?

According to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System every mortgage originator is now going to be fingerprinted, registered in a registry, and tracked through their life as an originator. This is evidently intended to monitor the originator and the loans they write.

If you ask your mortgage originator for their "Unique Identifier" and they don't know what you mean, they may not be current on the developments in their industry. The answer should be, "That isn't in effect yet, but I will get it to you when I get one."

Once more, government is making everything we do in business and personally, a monitorable event. It will either help people become more reliable, or make computer hackers more popular. (lol)

Woe to the mortgage originator who doesn't get a "Unique Identifier", but consumers will soon be able to learn as much about their originator as they can about the mortgage terms.

Happy listing and selling! (and originating)

Proper Mercury Disposal Helps Us All Stay Healthier

Mercury is a naturally occurring element. It is used in many common items today. Proper disposal of mercury can help us all stay healthier.  While mercury is an element, our bodies don't break it down so it can build up and slowly poison humans.

When you replace an old thermostat with a new, more efficient digital one, make sure that the mercury in the old thermostat goes to the proper recycler. When you replace the fluorescent bulbs in your home or office, whether the long tubes or the newer compact versions, make sure that the bulb goes to the proper recycler. Some batteries contain mercury, so put on your glasses and read the fine print before you just throw it in the trash can.

Here in Falmouth, MA, our local recycling center (the dump) has a special place for things that contain hazardous materials. There is a special place for fluorescent bulbs and other things. Proper disposal will help those who come after us. If each of us pays attention on an individual level, the whole of us will benefit.

Some other common items to check for mercury are: thermostats, old switches, old toys, electric organs, pesticides, old cleaning supplies, old laptop computer parts, older car security systems...

Happy listing and selling!
